Unfortunately, this is exactly right and all too common. Cis-men -do not- experience this shit. (As a trans-man, I have, so... yeah. It's bullshit, it'd frightening. If you're a woman (or appear to be a woman) you have to plan almost everything around whether or not you'll be safe in a certain situation. It's an awful way to have to live.

Yeah, I've done stuff as a guy that (after my first experience with *having* to walk down a dark street en femme) I wouldn't *dream* of doing as a gal. Well, okay, I'd do it, but I'd be *really* unhappy about it.

Heck, there are a lot of men I'd like to dress up as a woman (with effort taken to make them passable) and then drop in a bad *appearing* neighborhood with directions to a bus stop a mile or so away.

It'd either change their attitude in a hurry or prove that they won't understand short of being assaulted or raped themselves.

And I'm not willing to go that far. Tempting as it is sometimes.

And yeah, as trans folks we get a whole second layer of worries. the "If they make me, they may kill me. If I'm lucky..."

All the messages of what's mandatory or forbidden. Including the ones that have no defense for their wrongness. Listing them would likely be a depressingly long litany indeed. So I'll elide it to the core conceptual model. We've got a social malfunction called denial of self-ownership. It's seemingly a handwave of superficial dismissal?

BUT!- There's so much of the society wide wrongness living in the denial of a person's right to say NO.

And that's the whole point of how IMHO we've all got some work to do at fixing this. One good part is found in signal boosting such stories as this.

Astorice always has great posts. She's a very mature young woman. I'm interested in the online zine she's doing for "teens who don't fit in," called OTHER. The video said she'd have an issue of it up by now, but I don't know for sure.

Stuff like this is the reason that I'm strongly tempted by the idea of controlled projective telepathy.

I don't like the idea of reading minds - I think people deserve their secrets - but the idea of being able to dump an experience like that into the head of people who Just Don't Get It, so they can feel the terror, live the panic? So tempting.
