Looks like my inability to read in dreams isn't total.

I'd thought I'd had memories of reading parts of stuff in dreams before (though it may have been words/phrases that didn't make a lot of sense strung together). But now I can report that I can definitely read *some* things in dreams.

Last nights dreams involved maps several times and I could read the abels on them. As well as street names on a GPS.

Interesting.

Also had one bit of interesting idea. One of tye maps was apparently for a game. And the description of the game (I or someone was explaining the background to somebody else) was something like:

!7th century alternate earth. with Alchemy (in the dream this had distinct overtones of "scientific" magic and a bit of pre-steampunk) is contacted by high tech aliens. Much mutual incomprehension and boggling over each others "tech" ensues as the... [meld? Work together? Form a hybrid culture?]

Sort of like Star Trek's First Contact only the Vulcans land in Girl Genius's Europa.

If you can actually figure out what that location is, go there and dig. :-^)

I don't know about reading in dreams, beyond signs here and there. But I had a dream a long time ago that involved some reading, and one thing I read was this weird name. I don't remember much about the dream.

I dreamed last night that the Christina Ricci version of Wednesday Addams had made a "friend" (more of a hanger-on) who was a slightly overweight Goth girl no older than 9. This girl kept getting into all kinds of trouble, including at one point ingesting some poison. Wednesday sighed heavily in exasperation and got her the antidote.

That world you dreamed about sounds awesome!

Yeah, there's a bunch of neurological stuff about why the dreaming and reading parts of the brain don't work well together. Luckily, we can easily get a particular concept into the dream and retcon the idea that it was read. Being lucid enough in the dream to look at something printed and trying to interpret the letters is where most people have trouble.
