a flash fic of fayanora's gave me a couple of idea.

The Rapture already happened. It was during the Black Death, so nobody noticed.

Which led to an more "horrible" idea.

The Rapture is happening *now*. It just a lot slower than most believers assume. Those kids on milk cartons? And the adults who missing persons can't find a trace of? Some of them have been taken by God.

Ah. I'd never heard the title. And it doesn't help that the lyrics are almost totally unintelligible (at least on the video) until she gets to the DJ.

Well, unintelligible lyrics is hardly a unique thing in pop/rock music. Rapture is IIRC the first "rap" containing song to chart on the regular Top 40, though.
