Avoid SmartFTP
Sep. 20th, 2008 06:13 pmI've been using Smart FTP but I just discovered that the last time it "suggested" I upgrade to a newer build, it had changed for "free for home use" to expireware.
So I need a freeware FTP program for Windows that doesn't play that sort of game.
It's a pity because Smart FTP suited my needs fairly well, nice interface remembered the directories and IDs I'd been working with, etc.
If they'd just quit providing the free version, I'd have kept using the old version I had. But by tricking me into updating the expireware version, they've crossed a line.
