Things that should be better know...
Mar. 10th, 2008 12:15 am...about what gays have had done to them in recent history.
Let's start out with the minor stuff currently. Like laws being passed (or attempted to pass) saying that homosexuallity TS/TG etc cannot be mentioned in schools except in a negative manner (the would be laws actually say "not in a positive or neutral manner" but that means they can only be mentioned negatively, right?)
Then there are the folks who quite publicly state that gays, TS/TG folks and non-Christians (by *their* definitions of "Christian) shouldn't have civil rights.
There have been attempts at laws to "forbid special rights" that actually would take away existing rights (like the one 15 years back in Oregon that due yto the wording could have forbidden any homosexual, sado-masochist or witch to get any sort of permit or license from the state or local government. They admitted they intended to go after professional licenses, but the wording would have allowed denying ID cards, driver's licenses, maybe even building permits.
Now we get into the nastier stuff (warning some of this is apt to be *very* triggering):
Most folks don't realize that the pink triangle symbol for gays comes from the Nazi concentration camps. That's how they marked homosexuals.
Even most folks who know that aren't away of what happened when the camps were liberated.
The many of the gays weren't released. They were put into German prisons. The German government didn't apolgize until 2001.

A number of countries execute homosexuals. But a few have done worse...
Apartheid army forced gay soldiers into sex change operations
Iran is "better". They have (at least in the past) "encouraged" homosexual men to get sex change operations. Given that homosexuality carries the death penalty...
For those heterosexuals who don't see why the above two items are horrific, consider how you'd feel if you were forced to undergo SRS.
And there are more thing, these are just what came to mind as I was writing this.
