May. 24th, 2007 06:57 pmI and some friends stood in line to see Star Wars for the *second* time.
You see, there'd been a contest for tickets to the preview on a local radio station, and we'd gotten tickets to see the preview the night before.
In fact, since I was out of work at the time, but had speed dial on my phone, I'd gotten a lot of the tickets.

Date: 2007-05-25 04:43 am (UTC)And I recall that Imperial Star Destroyer flying "overhead" (I'm sure that if you'd asked any of us, we'd have sworn it came out of the screen and went over us).
At the end, wer all sat there stunned for a moment then I turned to the others and said "Right. Synchronize your watches.; In 15 minutes we steal the print." :-)
This was at the old Westgate Theater. Which later had the distinction of being the *only* theatre in North Ameruca still showing it. Seems that because they'd been worried about sales, they'd gotten some special contract terms. And because of those the studio *couldn't* make them quit showing it as long as they were selling some specific amount of tickets a month.
They finally had to offer them *another* deal when the second movie came out.
