Humans are at heart "herd" animals. Or at least wired to need a fair bit of social interaction and some structures in it.
So the "pink monkey" reaction is practically instinctive. But we *can* learn better.
And most people need role models at some point or another. It's just that many don't get the idea that it's ok for other people (especially their kids) to choose roles that they wouldn't be comfortable with themselves.
If we get past the people who are so scared of change and can hit a critical mass of folks who can at least *accept* that what's right for them isn't necessarily right for others, and the different isn't inherently wrong, I'd bet that we'd actually see some consolidation.
Maybe some day the "macho"/"butch" etc types versus the "femme" types will be a more important distinction than what sort of genitals you have or what sort you prefer your partners to have.
Even with a more diverse set of roles to choose from, and fewer assumed mappings between sex and gender roles, we'll still have folks who don't fit the "normal" choices.
It's always hard being an original. But small steps. Breaking the sex/gender "linking" and other such things will expand choices enough to help more folks find something they are comfortable with.
Please do, I'm the uploader/encoder and would love for the video to be really widely spread around. :)
Though, if you don't mind, I would greatly appreceite it if you used this instead http://tsvideos.wordpress.com/2007/04/28/3/ . It's a mini-project I'm working on for dealing with shows that deal with TS/TG stuff, I created it a day after posting the original links so I didn't have the chance to upload the other links. :(
And it's Shadow or Brooke. Kengr is just the "byname" part of my SCA persona's name. Since "shadow" was already taken, and I didn't want to use Erik (or Brooke) I went with kengr (it's an old Norse word).
