The new computer is working nicely except for a problem with slow ethernet.

I've installed the removavble HD for backing up the internal HD and done a preliminary backup. Second Copy is updating that as I transfer files over.

Firefox & LJ are working, subject to the slow ethernet

Other than data files, the main things remaining to port over are email and eMule. No point moving that last over until the ethernet is doing ok.

Remaining hardware changes are some cable swapping on the monitors so I can hook the second VGA output to the second monitor. And possibly updating the video card as it seems to be an issue with playing DVDS.

I need to update the RAM. That's gonna be the most expensive. Looks like about $100 per DIMM (400 MHz, non-ECC DDR, 1 gig DIMMs) Need at least 2, maybe three (there's a chance that adding a third DIMM may slow the memory slightly)

And I'll probably upgrade the CPU while I still can get it.

I've got another motherboard that the current CPU will work in. In fact, it's the one I bought it for. At one point, I thought that board was bad (turned out to be a bad power supply), so I got this board.

Add another case, and I'll have a pair of nice 32-bit systems. No point in going to 64-bit as I don't want to run XP64 (and way too much stuff is wonky under it anyway). I'll learn Linux on my older boxes before I try running it on a 64 bit system.
