Calling all my UK friends

I need a couple of village names. Preferably fictional.
I need them for the home of my
lightning_war character. He'll be living a ways outside one, but making trips (in "disguise") to the other by bike fairly often.
This would be in 1942.
I suspect that my criteria will require a fictional pair. But if anybody can find a real pair that fits, I'd be delighted.
I need the following things:
close enough to London to make a trip by car without staying overnight.
The nearer village should have a catholic grade school
There should be an installation nearby with US Army personnel
Both villages need to be large enough to have shops adequate for everyday things.
Both need to be within reasonable distance to travel by bicycle.
There should be some woods within reasonable walking distance and some sort of "open fields" type land adequate for young lads trying to explore alone.
A nice source of flint would be good too.
Yeah, I don't want much, but...

Backstory for Kenneth has his dad doing *something* that apparentely involved him being places he shouldn't and not coming back from a trip.
Also had him away from home a lot, which is more consistent with something like Intel that AF.

Interesting co-incidence though. A group I belong to meets monthly at the Ambridge Event Center here in Portland.
