One of the top stories on the local news was that we had an earthquake with the epicenter *in Portland* a few miles from where I live this morning around 7 am.

It was all of 2.7...

A) how deep.
B) even one that small can be significant in the bigger terrestrial stress picture.
C) there have been a lot of small quakes all around the pacific lately.
D) I'm willing to drop cash money that the Juan de Fuca Plate has a big release within 3 years.*

And people actually felt it? I don't think I remember anything I felt and checked online (i.e. anything I felt in the past 7-9 years) be under a 3, and seldom under a 4.

Oh, well, guess growing up near the San Andreas (and several minor related faults) will do that :-).
