One of the top stories on the local news was that we had an earthquake with the epicenter *in Portland* a few miles from where I live this morning around 7 am.
A) how deep. B) even one that small can be significant in the bigger terrestrial stress picture. C) there have been a lot of small quakes all around the pacific lately. D) I'm willing to drop cash money that the Juan de Fuca Plate has a big release within 3 years.*
--------------- *I have no conscious reason to believe so. But I don't disregard the subconscious (not do I live my life as thought its proclamations are a forgone fact when they predict the future).
And people actually felt it? I don't think I remember anything I felt and checked online (i.e. anything I felt in the past 7-9 years) be under a 3, and seldom under a 4.
Oh, well, guess growing up near the San Andreas (and several minor related faults) will do that :-).

Re: 2.7...
Then again I felt the first "real" quake the Portland area had had in living memory back 1993. And it wasn't a lot stronger.
BTW, this one is interesting in that there's no known fault there...
