Diabetes sucks #5789
May. 10th, 2005 11:37 amAround the middle of last week I managed to rip a nice chunk of skin off my foot (on the outside. halfway between the ankle and the bottom). Not that big. Maybe the size of the end of a AAA battery.
That was painful. But cleaning it is a royal pain. And "inspecting" it (which is necessary for foot and leg injuries on diabetics) is just barely possible.
And due to my diabetes it may by *weeks* before it's properly "healed over" (as opposed to actually healed.
This means even showers are a pain because the water *will* get up to it. And swimming will be out of the question for some time. Just when I wanted to get back to exercising. :-(

Date: 2005-05-11 05:27 am (UTC)He got stupid and didn't take care of his feet. Got an infection, had to have something (part of the foot? Part of the leg) amputated. And died a month or two later.
