Santorum came within 8 votes of Romney in Iowa? Yeesh. At least Gringrich was well behind them And Bachmann and Perry are pretty much out of the running.

We can *hope* that if Santorum gets nominated, he'll scare the sane Republicans and the independents into voting for Obama.

Alas, I don't trust the voting public that far. Romney may have a better shot at beating Obama, but given the choice between him and Santorum? No contest.

Looks like my inability to read in dreams isn't total.

I'd thought I'd had memories of reading parts of stuff in dreams before (though it may have been words/phrases that didn't make a lot of sense strung together). But now I can report that I can definitely read *some* things in dreams.

Last nights dreams involved maps several times and I could read the abels on them. As well as street names on a GPS.

Interesting.

Also had one bit of interesting idea. One of tye maps was apparently for a game. And the description of the game (I or someone was explaining the background to somebody else) was something like:

!7th century alternate earth. with Alchemy (in the dream this had distinct overtones of "scientific" magic and a bit of pre-steampunk) is contacted by high tech aliens. Much mutual incomprehension and boggling over each others "tech" ensues as the... [meld? Work together? Form a hybrid culture?]

Sort of like Star Trek's First Contact only the Vulcans land in Girl Genius's Europa.

Protein!!

Just after Christmas I got myself a new crockpot. 6 qt, with timed cooking and even a temp probe and the ability to cook to temp, then keep things warm.

Last week I did a big pork roast (they were on sale). Earlier this week I did a turkey breast (they are still selling the ones that didn't sell for Christmas).

Today? I'm doing a 5 lb beef roast. With onions, carrots spuds and some musnrooms. Only the roast was a tighter fit than I expected. So the spuds and shrooms will go in after the meat is done.

Probably just as well. Spuds tend to get a bit too soft unless you toss them in fairly later in the cooking. So this way I can just cook them & the mushrooms with the juices & other veggies, while the roast cools.

Between the turkey (still much of it left), the roast beast, and a spiral cut ham I picked up (yet another Xmas leftover on sale) I'll have *lots* of protien to nom on. Even if it *does* make the fridge a bit crowded. :-)
