food & prices
Nov. 23rd, 2011 03:01 pmIt's outrageous. At the beginning of the month, the butterflake rolls (really good!) that the Albertson's bakery makes were $3.49 for a package of 12.
Some time since then, they've switched to a package of *8* at the same price. A 150% price jump just in time for the holidays. Grrr.
While picking up the *one* package (I can't justify 2 of them), I spotted another holiday item. Fruitcake.
Only this year, there's no way in *hell* I'm going to buy one. They are incredibly *tiny* (for my gamer friends, I think you could get *two* of them it the Chez Geek multi-deck box). $9.99 No [censored] way!
Also, I note that the packaging did not list a weight *anywhere*. I didn't think that was even *legal*. But I'd noit be surprised to find out they are only a pound. That'd make them *half* (or maybe a third) the size of the ones last year.
I know fruit cake isn't good for me, but this is probably the last straw. I'm not paying that price for what is almost certainly not-that-great fruitcake, and i can't justify the hassle of making them myself.
