Attention male writers...
Dec. 5th, 2006 11:01 am... your readers would appreciate it if you paid attention to "minor" details such as basic anatomy.
Yes, I have once again been reading along in a story only to have the (obviously male) writer refer to a female character's Adam's apple.
Hate to break it to you, guys, but that's an exclusively *male* bit of equipment. When testosterone causes your voice to change at puberty, it does so by enlarging the larynx. And that enlargement shows on the outside as the Adam's apple.
This does not happen to females unless they get administered large doses of testosterone. And when they do, their voices change, and they get other male charactertistics, such as all that hair.
