Uncertainty.
Jul. 23rd, 2002 12:34 amI only talked to Lin for a little bit today. But it was a rather "heavy" conversation.
She'd been to see one of her eye doctors today. (Yes, she has several).
They discussed the possibility of a cornea transplant. There are risks. Including the risk that even if it works, her vision still might go to hell in a couple of years.
She listed the risks (several) and the possible benefits (some rather doubtful).
She needs to decide whether or not she wants to go through with it. The doctor will recommend it if she's willing.
She asked me for input. I offered a few questions she might want to ask (such as if she does get the transplant, and winds up in bad shape 2 years down the road, would that be it or would another transplant be possible).
But I wasn't able to offer a lot of help. She's got to decide between options that are very subjective (quality of life stuff). I don't know what it's like for her now and I can't really understand down inside what sort of difference the choices will make for her.
Heck, if it was me, I'd not be sure how to decide.
We did get to a bit of humor and wondered who she'd pissed off in a past life to be repaying karma at such an accelerated rate.
Whatever she chooses, I hope it works for her.
Meanwhile, while we aren't setting records, it's much hotter than normal here. The temp at 11 PM was 78, which the weatherman on the news noted was more appropriate for the high this time of year.
I bought an indoor/outdoor thermometer the other day and it records max and min. Since I reset it last night her are the figures:
Indoor Max 95.5F
Indoor Min 74.3F
Outdoor Max 99.0F
Outdoor Min 61.3F
Current Indoor 84.4F
CurrentOutdoor 70.7F
Ick.
I'm hot (in both senses of the word) And I can't do anything about it. <sigh>
