I've got a character named Jon in one of my stories (as those of you who've read them already know)

I need a "girl name" for him. Something that's reasonably close.

I've already thought of "Joan" (just slight vowel shift) and "Jonna" (not sure of spelling, but when I was a kid one of mom's friends had a daughter named that).

Any other ideas?

Joe + anne or Joe + anna. That's the way my friend pronounces it.

I seem to remember a fairly good singer by that name back in the 60's/70's ...

what about Jeanne?
it would be pronounced j'anne (a soft j...i can't really verbalize it in text, unless you speak french..)
it's all one word tho, there is no break from the j to the anne...if that makes any sense! :)
