I just dumped an online chat with a friend who was having a bad time. But I was ready to explode. I know it's not their fault that they can't see some of this stuff, but I want to scream when they keep insisting that the rest of the world adjust to them.

I understand completely. However, that's still no reason to hate yourself. Hating yourself won't make you feel better and trust me, knowing the person I'm pretty sure you're talking about as I do...it won't make them feel better either.
