Imagine Peter Parker living in a place with that sort of surveillance?

Date: 2023-01-16 02:34 pm (UTC)Let's face it, modern tech such as DNA testing would make maintaining a secret identity rather difficult. You'd need mad science protections (such as suits which capture/destroy dead skin cells and perhaps seed fake DNA) and legal protections (such as the Coltman vs. Dachshund decision in my Masks universe) to keep investigators from revealing supers' real identities. Or the ability to change bodies. (Shazam!)
Of course, Peter Parker is known to have a deal with Spider-Man in re. taking photos, which would explain away a lot of such evidence. He was also unmasked by Dr. Octopus after doing a very poor job of trying to rescue some hostages (including Aunt May, IIRC). (Turns out he had the flu.) So everyone knows there is some association, as well as that "Puny Parker" may have the courage but not the physical ability to be Spider-Man.
For a long time Iron Man was supposed to be an employee of Tony Stark, and Stark was known to occasionally test the armor himself, or even use it for protection when under threat.
So, the best defense could simply be establishing a connection between the costumed person and the secret ID.
