I dunno, but if the Artemis crew are anything to go by, there's a fair chance the next human to set foot on the moon will be a woman. And they are going there to stay!

Fair point, NASA has a habit of starting programs and then they get cancelled in the design and planning stages. Although Artemis might be a bit different since SpaceX are building the rockets, and have already completed the first stage booster. NASA is just in charge of the lander and crew aspects, an dthe crew is already selected and in training.

of course, it could still get cancelled, but if that happens you've got a bunch of unemployed astronauts and a moon rocket...and there's three different companies [Boeing, SpaceX and Blue Origin] tending for the lander, which may be partway or fully completed when/if the project gets pulled.

Pretty sure they'll say screw NASA, screw the politicians and launch anyway, proving once and for all that they don't need D.C fucking around.
