And the only folks who look likely to try again soon are the Chinese.

In fairness, there's not a lot of reason to go to the moon. Sure the view is nice, but so is the view from orbit of Earth. Just a bunch of rocks up there. The only reason to go to the moon really is to collect the copious amounts of helium 3, and there isn't enough there to justify the fuel costs, even though it would be an amazing source of fuel for nuclear fusion reactors on Earth.

Well, unless you believe the theory that the moon is either hollow or whatever David Childress's theory is for why the moon rings like a bell when something lands on it, and you want to test said theories. Which honestly, it would be worth going to the moon to find out why it does that.
