kengrA scene in a story I was reading reminded me of a cartoon I saw many years ago. Searching for it led me to this (warning, have plenty of Kleenex ready). Note that the poster restored some missing footage so don't go away the first time it says "The End"
I don't think this is the one I was remembering. The one I recall was black & white (though that could have just been our TV set back then) and had a very skinny girl in rags. Older too.
