kengrConcast is running this really *stupid* ad that shows just how out of touch their execs and ad agency are.
It's got a couple of rancher types standing by a gate in a fenceline. One says something about a storm coming in.
They go on to talk about how it'll knock out one guys satellite TV and the other one starts talking about how Comcast won't get knocked out and has better features etc
Great, huh?
Slight problem, they are obviously out in the middle of nowhere. So where exactly is he supposed to *get* Comcast? Cable companies don't have service out in the boonies. It costs them too much for too few customers.
Only reason there's phone service and power out in the boonies is because back in the 1930s, there was a government program to extend power and phones out to the boonies (As I recall it was the Rural Electrification Agency)
There's been talk about how broadband doesn't get into rural areas as wel, but other than talk and "we need to get more out there" nothing is really being done.
