spice question

Okay, there's "spice" I've seen off and on for years. Used to be the only place I'd encounter it was in the seasoning packets that get packed in with corned beef briskets. But I'm running into it a lot in the cheap Winco summer sausage.

It's some sort of spherical seed about 2mm in diameter. Really pale yellow or light brown. Anybody know what it is?

I've tried it with the ones in the sausages, but there's not much taste, then again since they were cooked into it, (and are thus somewhat saturated with grease) the flavor may be gone already.

Not likely to buy any corned beef brisket until fall or winter.

I was under the impression that mustard seeds were a lot smaller, too.

I think I'm one of the "soapy cilantro" folks. Doesn't taste bitter, but definitely soapy.
