kengrI dug out the track log and here's the route we followed on that first ride.
Keep in mind that the ride leader was sort of making it up as he went along.
We left the center of the island for the north side of the circle at 15:14. We then rode twice around the circle before heading north on Cesar Chavez Blvd (39th Ave to you old-timers).
We stayed on Cesar Chavez until Broadway. We turned left and folowed Broadway to 19th. We turned right then, because a few blocks before a chunk of the ride (only 40 or so people) had turned left onto a street that the leader had originally said we'd take but changed his mind about.
Anyway, We got a block north of Broadway and the word came. "No, they're backtracking to join *us*" some we turned left on Schulyer, And then made another left on 17th to get back to Broadway.
We took a right at Grand and followed it to where it joined into Martin Luther King Blvd (MLK).
We were on MLK only until Tillamook (a couple of blocks), because folks convinced the leader that they'd really rather not ride on MLK.
We turned right onto Williams, and followed it to Fremont.
It was a left there, and We followed Fremont for a fair bit.
We turned right into an alley between Mississippi and Michigan, and followed that to the end of the block, Then it was a right onto Beech, and a left at the end of the block to put us on Mississippi.
At Skidmore it was a left, and we followed that to Concord.
A left on Concord, and on down to Failing & Overlook. We followed Overlook to Melrose Drive, and stopped at the first bend of Melrose to take a break on a grassy patch just outside of Overlook Park. We arrived there at 16:03
We left there at 16:26. Continuing on down Melrose until the north/south stretch, where we got to turn left thru the back area of some sort of community center. More or less a half circle back onto Melrose. We continued on Melrose until it rejoined Overlook(this is the first time our route crossed its own path)
We turned left on Overlook and a block later took another left onto Overlook Terrace. We followed that until it rejoined Overlook Blvd.
We followed that for a couple of blocks (with an odd bend in the middle) and turned left onto Skidmore Terrace.
At the end of Skidmore Terrace, we followed a trail around a large U to the end of Skidmore Court, which we followed east to where Overlook Blvd dead-ended into it. A right onto Overlook, and a block down to make a left onto Skidmore Street (yeah, it must get confusing around there if all someone told you was "Skidmore".
We followed Skidmore to Concord and took a left onto Concord (making the second time the route crossed itself).
Up Concord to the end, where we took a spiral ramp up to a bike/pedestrian bridge over Going. And then, of course, a spiral ramp down.
That put us on a new segment of Concord Ave. We followed it north to Blandena, where we took a left and went one block and turned right onto Denver.
At Webster, we took a right. Followed it for a whole block and took a right onto Concord.
Another block and it was a left onto Alberta.
We followed Alberta all the way to 15th. A right onto 15th which we followed all the way to Lloyd center.
The route crossed itself for the third time when we crossed Broadway.
At Lloyd Center we turned right onto Multnomah. and at 13th, we crossed over to Holladay Park, and took the diagonal path across it to 11th & Holladay.
Down 11th to Lloyd Blvd, where it was a left and then a right back onto 11th.
We took a right at Sandy and followed it all the way to where it ends at 7th. Going south on 7th All the way to Madison.
A right at Madison and two blocks later another right onto MLK.
Then a block later a left onto Main.
Down Main to the end and then down the non-street to the Riverfront Esplanade under I5.
So we finished up at 17:25 at the assembly point for the Hot Socks ride.
Total mileage was 13.2 miles
