What American accent do you have?

Western. Like Midland, Western is another accent that people consider neutral. So, you might not actually be from the Western half of the country, but you definitely sound like it.

And if you're not from the West, you are probably one of the following:
(a) A Pittsburgher - the quiz can't tell the difference;
(b) Someone from Canada (probably southern Ontario) who doesn't have a Canadian accent;
(c) Someone from northern New England who doesn't have a New England accent; or
(d) Someone from Texas or the Heartland who was born after 1980.
You are definitely not from New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Detroit, the Deep South, etc.</font>

I came out "Eastern New England" which makes sense since that's where my father's from (I grew up outside the U.S. so the only accent I was exposed to were my mother and father.) However, I don't do "cah" for car.

I used to know a guy from Boston who deliberately exaggerated his accent to pronounce the city name so it rhymed with "Batson."

Yeah, it said I have a "Southern" accent. Uh-huh...

I grew up in the Appalachians, moved to the Bluegrass and have watched a lot of TV/listened to a lot of radio all my life. None of that is "Southern." Even if all Southerners sounded alike, which they don't. Different regions have very distinctive accents.

Heh, I got 'no accent,' which is right, unless I feel like deliberately sounding Southern/Texan. I mean, purely no-accent.
