Some time back a friend gave me a Rainbow vacuum. She didn't need it anymore, and since it uses water to trap the dirt, it's a lot nicer for folks like me wo have problems with dust.
It wasn't until a few months back that I found the manual for it online. And just the other day I used it for the first time.
Works great (except the powered rug brush needs the drive belt replaced). But I found one "horrible thing about it. Which lead to the title of this post.
Y'see, I've got long hair. And you'd be amazed how much gets into even short pile carpet.
So, when I went to empty the vacuum, I wound up looking at the biggest hairball I've ever seen... EWWWWWW!

Date: 2010-09-07 01:32 pm (UTC)A good sweeper is a very useful tool. I bought a Kirby not long after getting my house, and have never regretted it (HEPA filter bags). Though I did have to have the motor rebuilt after I knocked my sugar canister over. Turns out that due to the design, table sugar is fine enough to get into the bearings and bushings. Every time I used it (until it stopped working) the house smelled like burnt sugar.
