Mmmm...

Steamed beet greens and fresh carrots...

Some idjit had "harvested" the carrots in the garden in back of the apartments. But they'd just grabbed handfuls of the tops and pulled stuff out of the (quite wet) soil. That left a lot of stuff still in the ground as the tops had pulled off. Plus, they'd left a bunch of really small carrots in the pile of carrot tops they'd left sitting to one. side.

There were also a few beets that'd gotten pulled out by accident (things are planted *way* too close together) and had been left.

I'd found out that beet greens were wondderful after getting a few for Fay to try (she thought she'd like them, but was wromg. Me, I loathe them).

Since one of my friends in the building *loves* beets, this works out ok, I hadded some betts to the haul and went back to prepare my wonderful repast. :-)

You might change "after getting a few for Fay" to "after getting a few beets for Fay" in order to clarify what you mean. (And spellcheck. ;-) )

I love you dearly, but sometimes your spelling errors make me go "whaaaa?" You do know LJ has a spellcheck, right? Pretty sure Semagic does, too. Just checked, and yeah it does.

Sorry to seem like a grammar/spelling Nazi; if it was just one or two words and I could still figure things out, I wouldn't mention it. But that last paragraph just has me scratching my head. What is a "wonderful repast", for instance? I think I figured out that you meant "I added some beets to the haul," but "repast" has me stumped.

Repast means meal or food eaten at a meal. The word is used for meals such as Thanksgiving, or the meal following a funeral or other special occasions.
