I worry about losing my eyes or legs. I am in 'that' space, where I have just enough money to get 0 aid whatsoever, but not enough to pay for the real treatment I need.

I know that space well. I can't get SSI because I still have stuff that in theory could be sold for enough money to disqualify me.

And SSDI may get to a hearing sometime in the next year. Maybe.

My current big worry is the umbilical hernia. It was too small for the HMO to want to operate on back when I still had coverage. But bit by bit it gets bigger. And I'm afraid the someday I'll have my guts in my lap. :-(

Yeah. I am awaiting disability, as that grants me Medicaid. If my lawyer is right and we win the case I'll be okay...

I am lucky in this respect... I am a disabled veteran. One of the things they provide is medical. I am also on SSD so I get Medicare as well.
