Christian student refuses 'remediation,' gets the boot

While I'm sorry the student got booted out, it's her fault, not the schools.

Anybody trying to get a legit degree in "counseling" or some other psych related field and who cannot accept homosexuality as being ok for some people has no more right to a degree than someone in a science (or surveying or geography) course who wants to insist that the world is flat.

News flash. As a counselor, you are *not* allowed to impose your religion's notions of right or wrong on a client.

This is the world that these people live in. A carefully-constructed, house-of-cards world that can't stand up to reality.

I was just talking with my advisor about the insistence of some folks that we use Christian/religious imagery and moral systems even in our classrooms, and he said "Well, they can be as superstitious as they like, but they cannot demand that the rest of us ignore the train as it's coming down the track."

However, if this article is correct (http://www.tips-q.com/news/msm/802362-former-student-challenges-universitys-requirements-counseling-practicum) then the student did not try to proselytize the person placed in her care, but referred them to another counselor.

I'll be honest; I'm torn about this if the article I cited is reporting the events accurately. I'll have to think about it for a while to decide why, though. Stay tuned.

The problem if she insists that homosexuality is wrong.

It's a dilemma. Her religious beliefs are contrary to the "facts" of the field.
