Info request

This is about something going on in the d&D game I'm in, but it's going to delve into a few areas of a character's life that are less than pleasant.

You have been warned...



In the D&D campaign I've been in for a bit, my character's backstory (unknown to the rest of the group) Involves a rather nasty rape. This has come out a bit in the last too session, in that she's acted in ways consistent with it, but the characters haven't figured it out yet.

But between that and something that happened last session, I realized that given some of the other stuff that I've already established, this character may well be doing self-injury stuff as a way to cope with things.

I know that a couple of folks here used to do that. I'm looking for advice on how to do this in a way that isn't a mockery of what folks like this go thru.

And I'll understand if those folks don't want to deal with this.
