I have some old MikroBitti magazines at home. MikroBitti is the oldest still-surviving home computer magazine in Finland.
Anyway, some time ago I read about the Cray XMP supercomputer which was bought by the Finnish Center for Scientific Computing in 1990 - and which was their first supercomputer. I remembered reading the newspiece at that time and being quite envious and amazed at how capable it was.
Then I realized that my wife's Powerbook was comparable to that. Little less RAM, but more disk space, and about the same megaflops.
