Linux hassles
Sep. 27th, 2008 05:05 pmI'm playing with Linux (Kubuntu Hardy Heron) on an old Compaq (Presario 5170).
I've run into a couple of annoyances. First of all, the on board sound (Compaq lists it as "Aureal A3M") isn't recognized.
Second, my printer(s) are on an old HP JetDirect Plus3x (the 3A, not the 4A). I can't figure out how to get it recognized either. Even on Windows it requires more than just the IP address and port number (at least in part because it has *three* parallel ports on it)
