Since my old bike is very difficult to ride due to certain anatomical peculiarities that have developed in the last few years, I needed a different one. I got a Elctra Townie 21 spd (Ladies).

Chrissy is talking about buying my old bike for her son, that ought to cover a fair chunk of the cost of the new bike.
And since Stacy's son is a bike mechanic, transferring the rear rack off the old bike will be fairly simple. I can transfer the headlight mount and the GPS mount myself. I've decided to throw my old bike computer in with the old bike as the v-shaped handlebars on the new bike don't have room for it along with the other two.
This should let me get riding again.
Much to my surprise, the new bike is lighter than the old one. And seems to be easier to pedal.
The brakes are rather better than I expected. On my first ride (a quick run around the parking lot, I almost threw myself off the bike when I tried to stop. Oops.

Date: 2007-03-17 02:49 pm (UTC)I was still on my feet after my "forced dismount". I dumped the bike to avoid being thrown on my face.
Trust me, there's a *big* difference!

Newer models can do even more. A lot of the newer ones report the current temperature, which is rather nice (or not noice) to know when you are out there exerting yourself.
Do a google search or visit a bike shop. The low end ones aren't that expensive and they are nice to have.
