kengrOn the local freecycle list, someone has posted for a "humane trap" so she can capture the rats infesting her house unharmed and dump them somewhere else (she mentioned out in the woods)
To start with, rats are smart enough that after she catches a few, the rest will savoid the trap, even if she moves it.
Second, while there may be rats in the woodsm they are likely a different species. And "city rats" don't know much about the woods".
So, she's dumping them to be eaten (most likely) or starve.
Third, if they survive, she's just introduced an "alien" species into an ecosystem.
