Yesterday I crashed for 5 hours after getting home from the beach.

Much of this was probably because I went along with one of the other guys when he wanted to check out the rest of the nominally "gay" section of the beach. He walked just a bit faster than I was comfortable with, so I got a bit winded a few times.

We took a different route on the way back (closer to the woods) and ran across a "labyrinth" someone had constructed out of stones from the river. It was 20-30 feet across and must have taken forever. I'll try to get a picture next weekend.

Silly me, I walked it.

Also, when Chrissy picked me up, I had to go back to the beach because I realized I'd forgotten something. So lots and lots of extra walking.

Today, I got together the items (mostly silly little things, but all purple) that I'd gathered together to send to [livejournal.com profile] kshandra at Burning Man. Not so much because she needed any of them, but just for the fun of watching my friend the postal clerk when I presented the package.

The address is just a *bit* odd. :-)

On the way back, since it was across the street from where I had to change buses anyway, I checked out a virtual geocache. I'd been there before, but hadn't double-checked the info, so I didn't know it was a virtual cache that time.

This time I had the printout from http://www.geocaching.com (it's cache GC6664) and was able to get the required info. Then I went across the street to the Jack in the Box and had a snack while I calculated the location of the actual cache. It turned out to be where I expected from the comments on the cache. I'll have to actually visit it one of these days soon, but I wasn't going to do it near rush hour (traffic is a definite hazard in getting to it).

Just need to go there and get the info to submit to get me logged as having found it.

Then I got ambitious. There's another cache (GCMBK2) that's closer to my place. But it's down Fremont a bit, so I'd have to get on the bus, ride it to Fremont, then transfer and go tramping around.

So I got off the bus at the closest approach (about a block away, I'd guess). BTW, it's rather interesting trying to estimate when to pull the cord on the bus by looking at the map pointer on your GPS.

I walked down the side street and found that the cache was apparently in a large open are. Behind a hedge and tall fence. Looked to be a *large* open area. One that I was apparently at the west end of.

So I walked back to Fremont and started walking east. I'd check every so often to see if there was a break in the fence. After a few block, my body informed me that I needed a bathroom. Now.

By the time I'd taken care of *that*, I was halfway back to the street the bus home ran on. And I could see the Fremont bus pulling out of a stop a block past my in that direction. So, since there weren't any benches at the stops I just kept slogging along. And confirmed what I'd begun to suspect. land on the other side of the fence was part of Rose City Cemetery. The entrance to which was back where I'd caught the Fremont bus in the first place. Arrgggh.

By then I just wanted to go home. I'll try for that one another day as well.

So I sat on a bench in the sun until the bus arrived. I got off at my stop and grabbed an Alberstons grocery cart that was sitting there. Partly for support, and partly because I needed a few things from the store. After much hunting I found that not only did they no longer carry one of the items, but they only carried one roughly equivalent product and were out of stock on that! Arrgh.

I got the rest of the stuff and got back to the apartment. At which point I discovered I *couldn't* bend far enough to get my sandals unstrapped. Which meant I couldn't get my (far too hot by now) pants off either.

I managed to get into my computer chair and find ways to contort myself enough to get the sandals unstrapped. I had to use my hands on the chair arms to get back up.

I am now wearing a *lot* less clothing and am relatively cool and rehydrated (yes, I had stuff to drink with me, but I finished the last of it shortly after I got home and followed up with gatorade and other fluids)

I'm still having to lever myself out of the chair. So much for my plans to do some laundry this evening.

I'm just gonna sit here and probably crash early. And *next* time I go hunting geocaches, I take the bicycle.
