The news is once again covering the local school district's decision to cut high school sports because of a budget shortfall. and how all these people and groups are coming forward to replace the money. They've already gotten almost half the money in only a week or so.

What frosts me is that similar efforts to save music programs and other scholastic electives when *they* got cut or reduced in previous years *didn't* get this sort of response. Or coverage.

Once again, sports is everything, the arts and science stuff ain't important.
