Where are we? (part 2)

The sun seems to be dropping even faster as it goes down. It gets dark quite fast.

Once dark, if you are away from light sources such as a campfire, you'll note a faint glow radiating up from the area the sun went down. Sort of a narrow fan shape, like an extremely faint aurora.

Nobody recognizes any of the stars. There are patterns (much like in any sky) where your mind might try to create constellations, but they don't really match those you know.

I like your idea about camping, maybe we can find a place with a bit of shelter...I hope the nights here aren't too cold *shivers*

Nope.

*I* don't know. But it's unlikely that anyone knows any NPCs.

"Player characters" can decide that for themselves.

i can't begin to guess what planet, of what star system, we're on, but if that faint glow in the west is zodiacal light, there's a fair amount of interplanetary dust in this system.

Ah. A student of astronomy...

it would probably be a good idea if we camped for the night, although this grassland doesn't afford anything even resembling shelter.

Which is why the only other person I tried this on headed for the woods... Shelter and firewood. :-)

the reason i headed north, not southward toward the trees, is because i think that whatever is creating the visual illusion is probably quite a bit closer than it appears.

Illusion?

Anyway, I realized a minor detail I'd overlooked when you asked about plants.

You'll note some plants have seeds, some of the flowering types have flowers and there are some new shoots as well. You can find most stage of growth for a given type within a short walk of each other.

There don't seem to be any significant differences between the places where you see the different stages.
