I hate windows
Apr. 11th, 2014 01:20 pm*something* went screwy on my XP system today.
I couldn't get at either windows explorer tab, I couldn't get ctrl-alt-del to bring up the menu so I could get at task manger to see what process was hogging things.
I *thought* I'd manged to close most things ok. And I had to reboot by holding down the power buttomn.*sigh*
Alas, Beyond compare didn't save the workspace propetrly (which sort of makes sense because part of the problem seemed to involve disk access slowdowns). And my mail program didn't save some folders properly. *Hopefully* I didn't lose anything important.
Thank $diety for my extensive backups of stuff likle the mail files. I was able to restore the three folders I found so far to the status when I went to bed last night.
Especially helped since the mangled folders seemed to only be ones that got changed while the system was slow (like due to the disk cache not getting flushed to disk.
