privileges you don't realize you have

"Where would you go if you were given $5000 for a 2 week vacation?"
I started to ignore it. Then I decided to make an honest answer. But here, so as to not spoil their fun.
Give me $500 and I'm disqualified for my SSI (no more than $2000 in "resources" allowed). Lord only knows what it'd take to get it back.
And my Section 8 housing doesn't allow me to be gone for more than a week (I suppose they'd make an exception for hospitilaztion, but...)
Yeah, I thought it was BS when it first showed up in the parework an year or two back. But it's not worth trying to argue about.
But the purpose of this "rant" is to point out that for a lot of folks, things that seem like a dream come to to *you* could royally mess up what life they have.
All hail the bureaucracy! *spit*
