Oh my aching...
Apr. 15th, 2012 05:03 pmSince today was the last of the string of "good weather" days *and* I finally got a chance to top off the air in my bike yesterday, I went for the first "lengthy" bike ride in months.
In this case, it was about 3-4 miles, and most of that was "out". I was over 3.5 miles (3.8?) when I decided to head back. Fortunately, my plan had been to head out Prescott. I'd grabbed a few thinga the Chinese market there (light weight things like dried seaweed), then cut back a few blocks to hit the I-205 bike path. I decided not to fight the second hill and headed back.
Of course, that made the slope I'd just come *down* into a hill. I got most of the way to the top of that and found a suitable "slope" off the bike path that I could sit/lay on to recover some. Yes, I'm *way* out of shape.
Finally dragged my self up and got back on the bike path. My planning showed in that I was able to follow it to the Parkrose Park&Ride and catch a buss home from there. Had some luck, too, in that it was a only a couple minutes before the bus arriived. Almost couldn't find my bus pass in that time.
Next time out, I remember the heart rate monitor gizmo. And I need to keep riding on the good days, and maybe even on some of the not-so-good ones, because I *really* need to get back in shape, I shouldn't be this dead after a measly ride like this.
