When I first moved into my own apartment, my Big Brother's wife gave me a toaster that they'd started out with. That was back in 1973.

It finally got to be a bit of a pain the last few years. Whatever sort of sensor it used to determine when to pop up wasn't working reliably.

About a week back I got a new toaster. Among other things, it has wider slots so it'd do things like bagel halves.

I didn't want to just throw out the old toaster, and a bit ago it occurred to me to look up the model number with google. It's a Toastmaster 1B12. Turns out it was manufactured between March and May of 1942.

Yeesh. It's 69 years old.

I may try ebaying it, but if any of you folks reading this wants to try fixing this classic, it's yours for shipping.
