... a mmoderately unpleasant occurence last night.

I had a craving, and since it was too late to use Albertsons, I walked the block plus to the 7-11.

Alas, there is no sidewalk on that side of the street. And since it was so short, I was wearing my flip-flops (not that shoes would have made a difference). So I was walking just to one side of the "path" which was mostly puddles. This was grass and somewhat elevated above the path (henvce the puddles).

And it (of course) sloped to the path a little.

All of a sudden *both* feet slipped sideways with no warning. I barely had time to realize I was falling before I landed on my left side. There was a large flash of pain from my back (my back muscles are often not happy with me anyway, and they *really* didn't appreciate this insult).

I had the wind knocked out of me for a minute, but seemred to otherwise be unijured as cautious moves showed me.

Getting up was an interesting exercise, as I didn't want to roll onto my front, and with my feet almost in a puddle to start with my movement choices were even more restricted. But I managed evntually.

Before getting uop, as I was getting my breath back I was startled to see the emergency whistle from key keyring laying on the grass in front of me. I picked it up and stuff it in my pocket.

And once I was up, I saw that the chain from the keyring to the carbiner I use to fasten it to a belt loop on my jeans was hanging free from the carabiner. They keys were still tucked into the change pocket on my jeans though, so that was ok.

I'm not sure *how* the jolt broke those items free, give that they were on the *upper* side when I landed.

When I got home I reatched the key chain, and managed to find away to reattache the whistle. It had one of those "swivels" as part of what linked to the the carabiner, and the loop on one side oiof the swivel had apparently broken off.

Since I need to see a locksmith about some keys one of these days anyway, I'll just pick up a few of those really cheap thin wire split rings to use for the whistle. That's how it should be fastened anyway. Something that'll just come apart the first time you tug hard on it.

Oh yes, after getting home I discovered one injury that shoes *might* have prevented. A cut on the upper surface of the toe immediately to the right of my left little toe. I cleaned it as best I could and will be keeping an eye on it.

I say "might" because there's a chance that the cut is from the corner of the toenail on the little toe. But that's far from certain.

My back is still unhapy with me. Mostly the right shoulderblade and immediately below. Seems to be just muscle pain.

My right little finger is bothering me a bit too, but I think that's unrelated.
