Months back (June or July), I was changing the batter in the "heart monitor" gizmo I'd bought from Radio Shack years before. I wanted to check my heart rate while out on my bike.

Anyway, it's basically a unit that straps around your chest and a watch that picks up the signal and displays your heart rate (along with whether or not it's in the "right" range for exercise).

The chest unit being very flat,, uses one of those "coin" batteries (a CR2032 if anybody cares). As such the "cover" for the batteries is a plastic disk with a slot for a coin (or one of the batteries) to be used as a screwdriver.

When I got it open the cover slipped and went flying. I couldn't find it. And that made the unit useless.

With the cleaning for the two inspections since then (or has it been three?) I had figured it'd gotten sucked up into the vacuum cleaner or something.

But tonight I was straightening out a section of the computer desk (it's the style that has a monitor shelf with enough space under the shelf for a desktop system (two actually). And due to the way the room and furniture work out, the right hand side has been pretty much a place to stuff things I'm not using often.

So I pulled stuff out. And found that the battery cover had been hiding in the shadows there.

So the monitor is again useful.

Now if I could just scrape up enough *spare* cash to fix the bike...
