kengr: (Demons of stupidity)
Read what his health policy advisor said

Anyone with access to an emergency room effectively has insurance, albeit the government acts as the payer of last resort.

Gah!

As someone who had to resort to that in my younger days (and may have to again now), this man is so far out of touch with reality that it's not even funny.

First off, the government *only* pays if the hospital can't get the (very high!) charges collected from you via legal action.

Second, you can't go to an emergency room for checkups, or other routine care, nor to get "maintenance" drugs (like my diabetes meds).

"But this is just an advisor". I hear you saying.

Yeah, and if McCain doesn't go along with his advice and believe that the guy's opinions are in line with McCain's, then he'd have picked somebody else.

Oh yeah, I've heard folks saying they'll vote for McCain because "he is for [fitb] and Obama isn't." (or at least Obama hasn't *said* he's for whatever)

Well, I have bad news for them. Check the record. McCain has said he was for *lots* of things. And then promptly either said the opposite or *done* the opposite.

You can't rely on *anything* he says. If you think he'll fund that program you are interested in if he gets elected, you are in for a *big* disappointment. Unless he has lobbyists whose clients will make lots of money from it (rather than something else) he ain't gonna do it.

Unlike McCain, Obama has *repeatedly* shown that he will change his mind on things, not to look good, but because someone showed him facts and evidence.
