Wish me luck
Feb. 20th, 2008 01:27 pmI just got my bank to try disputing a charge.
Y'see I had a credit with a company that shall remain nameless until this gets settled. I was trying to buy some parts for some computers I was working on for someone.
Got the wrong parts, and because the computer failed to notice the email I sent them about returning them for the right parts, I had to settle for a credit rather than a refund.
Also, buy the time we got to that point they no longer had the parts I wanted (2.6 GHz Pentium 4 400 MHz bus) so I had to settle for 2.4 GHz parts.
When I ordered the replacements, I had to fight their ordering interface. So it wasn't until the transaction completed that I realized that it came out of my card instead of the credit. Since it was the middle of the night, I emailed them.
Got told it was "too late" to reverse the charge and take it out of the credit. Had several go rounds, and the box is sitting at the local FedEx holding center.
They basically say I have to return it and eat a restocking charge. So I got fed up and called the bank and they are disputing the charge.
So, wish me luck. This is a *major* chunk of my available cash (the original charge was paid for by the folks whose computers I was upgrading).
If things *don't* go well, I will be posting in great detail about the company..
