You find insights in the damnedest places

The Erie Canal
It's one of those songs they hit you over the head with in gradeschool (and even junior high) music classess. Or at least they did 40 years ago.
Since picking up is pretty mindless, I got to wondering about that repeated line of "Fifteen niles on the Erie Canal". And it suddenly dawned on me that 15 miles was a *long* way back in the old days.
Just one of those . "Oh....." moments.

... is that I can't just throw on a sundress to take out the garbage and go to the store.
Well, I *could, but I'd spend an hour or so what with shaving and stuff.
My coolest (in the temperature sense) guy stuff is jeans and a t-shirt. (And before anyone asks, yes, I have some shorts, but due to my "figure" they won't stay up reliably)
