Pride 2006
Jun. 18th, 2006 11:05 pmI'd intended to go to Pride both days. But Saturday my body informed me that I was going to stay close to a bathroom... :-(
I got started late today, so I missed the parade.
I saw a few folks I knew, several of them folks I don't see very often.
I was a bit surprised to *not* see anybody I recognized at the NWGA booth, or in the crowds.
I got recognized by several folks. One guy remembered me from Kinkfest as "the guy with all those electrical toys". I joked that we'd have to "hook up".
Someone else recognized me as Brooke, even though I was in guy mode.
Picked up some info on a local gay mens group for us "extra large" types. I'm gonna check it out because I *do* need to do more social stuff (I'm way too much of a hermit these days, and because I am interested in guys, and at least in *this* group I won't have to worry about getting rejected for my size.
I bought a just a *few* things, though I didn't get a couple I'd hoped to find. I checked out the Utilikilt booth. they didn't have any that'd fit me, but they were able to figure out what size I should order. Spendy, but not as bad as I'd feared (some of their stuff is *really* spendy)
I got some buttons and other goodies for me, as well as a number of things that are going to get sent out to friends who should like them :-)
http://www.busybeebuttons.com has some great buttons. Alas, describing my favorite might not me worksafe. :-)
But for those days when your get up & go has got up & went, I got a "Temporarily out of order" button.
Got a couple of hats. One is a military style camo hat. In *pink*. It's a real camo pattern. At Orycon a couple of years back, some folks had complete uniforms in that pattern with badges and patches proclaiming them to be "Martian Special Forces". I figure the hat will be appropriate if I go shooting with the Pink Pistols (another group I grabbed literature for).
I only spent a couple hours down there, but my legs inform me they object.
