Further seduced by the dark side
Sep. 5th, 2004 10:18 amI've now got an LJ client running on the "new" laptop.
XP Pro is tolerable. But I still maintain that the only reason I haven't reformatted and installed Win2k is thatr I *do* need to be able to support XP users.
Among other weird things I've tried, I got the old summagraphics SummaSketch graphics tablet to work with the laptop. Need to find a way to lower the pressure required to "trigger" the pen when drawing. But drawing with it isn't much worse than drawing on paper. And it's small enough to fit in a carry bag with the laptop.
I stumbled into a *good* deal on some monitors, so Kathy has gotten a NEC 5D (19") monitor as a belated birthday present. Lin will be getting one as well. That should make it possible for her to read the screen more often.
I got myself a pair of NEC LCD 1810 LCD displays. 18.1", 1280x1024 resolution, and (with cards that support it) you can set them as landscape or portrait dsisplays. They have built-in tilt.
Now I just have to re-partition the HD a bit, and I'll be able to run my enmail program on here and move stuff between the laptop and the desktop.
