Prezzies and stuff.
Dec. 24th, 2003 12:21 amLin and Kermit "dragged" me off to Fry's for a shopping trip this afternoon. I presented Lin with one of her presents. It was just a cheap playset, but it was lots of matchbox sized emergency vehicles, complete with a police station and firehouse (more false fronts than real buildings). But she liked it. She collects that sort of thing.
I apologized for not having it wrapped, but she told me she preferred stuff *not* be wrapped.
At Fry's I thought I was buying a bunch of DVDs, as well as some computer parts I needed. And maybe getting stuff for a few other folks if things looked good.
Things got interesting when Lin wanted to show me this "perfect keyboard" (musical type, not computer. Apparently it had what I've heard called "velocity sensitive" keys. So the volume of a note depends on how "hard" you hit the key.
Kermit took a salesman aside while Lin was still playing with it. Being faster on the uptake than usual, I dumped a few things into my cart.
So when Kermit went "Merry Christmas" and told Lin he was buying it for her, I pointed to the stand & folding seatt I'd grabbed. I also grabbed a spare power supply since I knew she was sharing one between both of her older keyboards.
She was most pleased.
Then when we got near the checkout, I turned back from looking at something to see the two off them transferring large amounts of stuff from my cart to theirs. And informing me that it was my Christmas present.
They'd had a lot of camoflauge since Lin had been going on about not being able to find "both parts" of my present at any of the Radio Shacks she'd checked.
Anyway, after we got out of Fry's we got something to eat (we'd been in there for 3-4 hours...)
On the way back to my place, I pointed out that we'd be passing a Radio Shack. Yes, Lin had made it clear that she really *was* looking for something there *too*.
We lucked out, they had whatever it was. And shre asked if Id goitten around to getting a better antenna for my stereo yet. When I said no, she added that to the package.
When we got to the car, she handed me the bag saying it was all for me.
Turns out she'd made a good choice on the "mystery" gifts. They were something I'd actually looked at a few time but decided not to get because they were more geeky/cute than useful. Not to say that they *weren't* useful. Just that I hadn't felt like paying the price for the cute factor..
Oh yes, when we sorted stuff from Fry's out, I wasn't paying enough attention, and two of my DVDs got left in with their stuff. It was funny, I didn't notice for a while and then waited before calling them (no point calling them before they got home). So when I called them, Lin told me that they'd *just* noticed they had the DVDs and then the phone rang.
Since Lin wants to do a bit more shopping tomorrow and I'll probably do some of it with her, since Kermit has to work (an early shift at that), she'll just give them to me when we get together.
And now I'll list the "loot" after a cut tag so anyone who doesn't care can skip that.
